The Rocca Borromeo of Angera is a nice castle located at the southern end of lake Maggiore, on the lombard shore. It incorporated a medieval fortress that was owned by the Visconti and Sforza dukes of Milan and then it became a private property of the Borromeo family. Located on a cliff overlooking the town of Angera and lake Maggiore, the castle is open to the public. It houses an interesting antique dolls museum with hundreds of pieces exhibited. From the castle one can enjoy a nice view, especially from the top of the Castellana tower that can be accessed from the Hall of Justice, well decorated with frescoes dating back to the beginning of the 13th century.
