Enjoy a private excursion with driver from Stresa, lake Maggiore and lake Orta to southern Piedmont to discover one of the most famous wine regions in Italy where the top Barolo and Barbaresco wines are produced. Spend a day in a beautiful scenery tasting some of Italy's most famous wines
If you are a wine lover and are staying on lake Maggiore or lake Orta, you should consider spending a day on a trip to the wine region in southern Piedmont where some of the top Italian wines are made. It is the lovely hilly area known as Langhe. This part of Piemonte - Piedmont - is the birthplace to the famous Barolo wine but not only!
Other high-quality wines are produced in this part of Italy, like for instance the Dolcetto, the Nebbiolo and the Barbaresco. But that's not all! Another reason why the Langhe is well known is because of the annual Truffle fair which takes place in October.
In the Langhe we can also find the Piedmont hazelnut, said to be the finest variety in the world, that find an ideal soil in this corner of Piedmont.
The nocciole - hazelnuts - that were used to create the first NUTELLA jar in the 1960's by the Ferrero family. Nowadays the Ferrero Nutella factory is still in the town of Alba producing the most famous chocolate cream in the world as well as the delicious Ferrero Rocher!
With your own driver you will be picked up at your hotel in Stresa or any other location on lake Maggiore and lake Orta to enjoy a drive in a comfortable vehicle to the Langhe region.
Your itinerary can be tailor-made to your requests / interests. The day trip allows the visit to two or three wine cellars with a wine tasting, or you may decide to visit just one or two cellars and enjoy a meal at a local trattoria or restaurant.
If you already have in mind a specific brand or wine cellar, we can adapt the itinerary and stop at your favourite wine makers. If you do not have any specific cellar you want to visit, we will be happy to suggest the stops also according to the wines you prefer. If you are for instance a Barolo lover, you can choose to stop at cellars that only produce Barolo enjoying a tasting based on a selection of different bottles.
